NOTE: A photographer will be in attendance to take the 'gathering' photographs but she is also happy to do the "Family portaits" after the formal photographs if you so wish. These should take about 10mins per family so it would be an ideal time to take that family picture if you have everyone there at the same time and very cost effective too. Photographs will be ready to order on the day and payment can be made by eftpos/cash/cheque. The formal gathering photographs will be taken starting at about 1.30pm.

The book on the Scott family history will also be available for you to checkout and to order a copy. Copies should only take 1 to 2 weeks to arrive and payment on ordering is required either cheque or cash.

The book is back from the printer and it looks nice
These are only proof copies and corrections if needed will be made before final printing.

The price is $45 per copy

The passenger list for the "Zealandia" showed the following
Scott Eli 21 Yorkshire Brickmaker
Martha 20
Mary Elizabeth 1

Eli spent the first two years in NZ in the Christchurch area and bought his first piece of land in the Malvern Hills. He then bought the farm in Pigeon Bay and had a freehold area of 357 acres. He didn't escape the gold fever, and in 1861 tried his luck In Dunstan in Otago and then again in 1865 on the West Coast goldfields. He moved to "Heatherbank" a farm in Omihi (in North Canterbury) in later life then retired to Rangiora where he was living at the time of his death. Eli worked with his father in making of cloth in Yorkshire. He was later apprenticed to a brick and tile maker. He married in 1858 and in 1859 arrived in NZ on the "Zealandia" on that vessels second voyage.

We would like you to help us celebrate the 150th reunion of their arrival in New Zealand

Some thoughts you may like to comment on - perhaps a trip to see Eli and Martha's graves. Sadly they are in separate cemeteries, Eli in Rangiora and Martha in Balcairn.

Maybe a trip to Pigeon Bay where the Scott homestead is still in use and wonderfully preserved

Eli's grave only has a small plate for a marker. Perhaps we could see our way to marking his grave with a plaque reading something like

'Eli Scott 1840-1925. Arrived in NZ aboard the "Zealandia" Nov 1859. Erected by his descendents in 2009 to mark the 150th year of his arrival.'

Maybe you have an idea please let us know
